Hereditary Order of 800 is a society within the Noble Company of St.
Mary of Walsingham comprised of Companions who are descendants of the
first Holy Roman Emperor, Charlemagne. The society fosters historical
knowledge and interest in the Holy Roman Empire and the shaping of
Europe from the Middle Ages to the present day. The order takes its
name from the year 800 A.D., when Charlemagne was crowned Emperor of
the Romans by the Pope.
